If you are looking to get a certificate of analysis (COA) for your cannabis or hemp product we have compiled a list of the top cannabinoid testing laboratories in Europe. Whether you are a grower, producer, manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer getting an accurate COA is important for you own legal peace of mind and for your customers to know exactly what they are buying.
A Comprehensive List of Cannabinoid Testing Laboratories in Europe
Our list of cannabinoid testing laboratories is designed to help you find a reliable partner who can test your products and samples to check for potency and safety. Even if you have your own in house lab or HPLC machine getting a third party to confirm your results is common sense and good practice.
Is your laboratory Competent?
Make sure the laboratory you choose is EN ISO/IEC 17025 compliant. This is the main ISO standard used by testing and calibration laboratories. In most major countries, ISO/IEC 17025 is the standard for which most labs must hold accreditation in order to be deemed technically competent.

Medicinal Cannabis Services
Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing Netherlands have been responsible for quality control and release testing of medicinal cannabis since the start of the Dutch medicinal cannabis program. Using state-of-the-art equipment, a wide range of quality tests is applied and more recently, Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing Netherlands set up a specialized GMP production facility for placebo cannabis, cannabis oils and other final dosage forms used in clinical trials.
Each strain of cannabis has its own cannabinoid and terpenoid profile. Profiling of these strains will provide guidance for future clinical studies to determine medicinal effects of products. Our medicinal cannabis consulting services are here to guide you in the right direction with comprehensive testing and GMP manufacturing including the following:
- GMP clinical trial medication (Cannabis flos, granulate and oils) in different types of primary packaging: bottles, pouches, bags, capsules. drop bottles
- Clinical trial documentation
- Basic cannabinoid profiling
- Advanced cannabinoid profiling
- Terpenoid profiling
Our professional analytical team also conducts quality control tests for medicinal cannabis such as:
- Foreign Material
- Identification A: Microscopic Properties
- Identification B: TLC
- Microbiological Contamination
- Aflatoxines (B1+B2+G1+G2)
- Pesticides (Ph. Eur. 2.8.13)
- Heavy metals (Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, Nickel and Zinc) by ICP
- Loss on Drying
- Assay and related substances (CBDA, CBD, CBN, CBNA etc.)
Our testing services include method development, validation and stability studies to ensure product integrity is maintained over time.
Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing Netherlands can write all your required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering your facility, equipment, and production processes and help setting up a facility that is compliant with all GMP requirements and guidelines. We will train you on the SOPs and perform pre-inspection audits to ensure you are ready for your regulatory inspection.

Expert chemical testing services including composition, trace contaminant determination, metals analysis, identification of unknown components and compliance testing.
As standard, they test for 9 cannabinoids – CBC, CBD, CBDA, CBG, CBGA, CBN, d9-THC, d9-THCA and THCV (Up to 14 cannabinoids available on request)
using fully validated gas chromatography (GC) methodology, providing an accurate report of 21 terpenes.
Supercritical CO2 extraction is commonly used to make hemp extracts, though this method can leave flavonoids and other interesting polar (water soluble) compounds behind. Solvents are permitted to be used in the processing of foodstuffs under EU regulations, however the types of solvent and amount of residue considered safe are clearly defined. Isolates are also generally manufactured with the use of solvents, and depending on the manufacturing process, they may not all be removed.

Aflatoxins B1, B2 , G1 G2 and Ochratoxin A. Others are available including ergot alkaloids
Heavy Metals using ICP-MS
Microbial and fungal values are not typically reported on a pass/fail basis. Rather, acceptable limits have been established and written into regulation. In the case of Bile Tolerant Gram Negative Bacteria (eg. E.coli) the product should be tested to show that they are absent.
