Cannabis als antibioticum? De verspreiding van antimicrobi\u00eble resistentie blijft wereldwijd een belangrijk gezondheidsprobleem. Onderzoekers van de McMaster University (Canada) ontdekten een antibacteri\u00eble verbinding in cannabisplanten die als aanknopingspunt zou kunnen dienen voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe medicijnen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

CBG - Cannnabigerol potenti\u00eble voordelen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ze ontdekten dat de cannabino\u00efde cannabigerol (CBG) antibacterieel is en bij muizen ook effectief bleek tegen een veerkrachtige bacteriefamilie die bekend staat als methicillineresistente Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Eric Brown (professor biochemie en biomedische wetenschappen aan McMaster) werden 18 beschikbare cannabino\u00efden onderzocht in het onderzoek en vertoonden ze allemaal enige antibiotische activiteit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De meest veelbelovende activiteit werd gevonden in hun niet-psychoactieve cannabino\u00efde CBG. Door zich te richten op het celmembraan van de bacterie CBG<\/a> voorkwam dat de bacteri\u00ebn een biofilm vormden, wat gemeenschappen van micro-organismen zijn die zich aan elkaar en aan oppervlakken hechten; en het vernietigde reeds gevormde biofilms en cellen die resistent zijn tegen antibiotica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brown stelt dat \"CBG bleek geweldig te zijn in het bestrijden van ziekteverwekkende bacteri\u00ebn en de bevindingen suggereren een re\u00ebel therapeutisch potentieel voor cannabino\u00efden als antibiotica.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sinds de legalisatie van marihuana in Canada 2 jaar geleden bestudeert het lab het antibioticapotentieel van cannabino\u00efden. Brown gaat in op het stigma dat kleeft aan het onderzoek naar cannabino\u00efden, maar met het toenemende anekdotische bewijs van het medicinale gebruik van cannabis is dit stigma nu aan het afnemen. De volgende stappen zijn werken aan het beter maken van de verbinding, wat betekent dat het specifieker zal zijn voor de bacterie en een lagere kans op toxiciteit zal hebben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
